GAT Labs Pricing: What GAT+ and GAT Shield Cost, and the Alternatives
GAT Labs prices its annual business plans from $16 per active user for Essential to $48 for Sentinel. GAT Shield is included from the $34 Secure plan. Business, government and non-profit domains have an $800 annual minimum; education plans run from $1.50 to $8 per active user with a $500 minimum. This guide compares the plans, cost drivers and seven alternatives for audit, security and lifecycle automation.
What's in this guide
GAT Labs publishes both annual and monthly pricing for its enterprise plans. Annual plans start at $16 per active user for Essential, rise to $20 for Essential+, $24 for Admin, $34 for Secure and $48 for Sentinel. GAT Shield is included from Secure; Shield+ is included in Sentinel. The annual minimum is $800 per domain, and every active user must be licensed. Education plans cost $1.50–$8 per active user per year with a $500 domain minimum. In the US and Canada GAT bills in USD; other regions are billed in euros.
GAT Labs pricing by plan
GAT Labs packages its products as a stack. GAT+ provides the audit and reporting foundation; Unlock adds controlled access and multi-party approval for sensitive admin actions; Flow adds onboarding, offboarding and other user-lifecycle automation; Shield adds real-time browser monitoring and DLP; and Shield+ adds continuous identity verification. The company also trades under the older name General Audit Tool.
| Plan | Annual price | Monthly-billing rate | Core products included | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $16/user/year | $2.33/user/month | GAT+ | Audit, reporting, alerts and visibility across Gmail, Drive, Calendar and users. |
| Essential+ | $20/user/year | $2.77/user/month | GAT+ + Unlock | Investigations, secure access and permission changes with approval controls. |
| Admin | $24/user/year | $3.33/user/month | GAT+ + Unlock + Flow | Lifecycle management, onboarding, offboarding, bulk actions and recurring workflows. |
| Secure | $34/user/year | $5/user/month | GAT+ + Unlock + Flow + Shield | Chrome browser DLP, monitoring, behavioural analytics and device-focused security. |
| Sentinel | $48/user/year | $6/user/month | Secure stack + Shield+ | Continuous identity verification, advanced browser security and real-time monitoring. |
GAT Labs states that yearly business plans have an $800 minimum charge per domain. Monthly plans have a $50 minimum per domain and do not include email support or training. The subscription must cover all active users and cannot be purchased for administrators only.
Education pricing
Education pricing is materially lower. GAT says education plans include roughly a 90% discount from enterprise list pricing and bill only active users, excluding idle, inactive, service and suspended accounts. The annual minimum is $500 per domain.
| Education plan | Annual price | What it is aimed at |
|---|---|---|
| Lite | $1.50/user/year | Core Workspace auditing, alerts and admin visibility. |
| Lite+ | $3/user/year | Adds a choice of Flow-style lifecycle automation or Shield-style browser monitoring. |
| Manage | $4/user/year | Broader management, security, analysis and automation across Workspace and Chrome. |
| Vigilant | $6/user/year | Classroom and browser monitoring for managed student environments. |
| Vigilant+ | $8/user/year | The broadest education monitoring and management package. |
GAT Flow, Unlock and the product stack
GAT Flow is the lifecycle-automation layer. On the current pricing page it appears from the Admin plan and supports user event-triggered workflows, recurring workflows, bulk onboarding and offboarding, licence assignment, password management, email migration and signature management. Unlock is the controlled-administration layer: it adds sensitive file and email access, permission changes, phishing-email removal and two-user verification for selected actions.
GAT+ remains the audit foundation across every enterprise plan. It provides domain-wide Drive and email audits, live content search, app-risk visibility, collaboration reporting, alert rules, user and group reporting, and ChromeOS device access management. That depth is the main reason GAT Labs remains a strong fit when the buying problem starts with forensic visibility rather than workflow orchestration.
GAT Shield pricing and Chromebook monitoring
For business, government and non-profit domains, GAT Shield is included in the Secure plan at $34 per active user per year. GAT also lists Shield as a standalone product, but does not publish a standalone Shield price on its current enterprise pricing page. Sentinel at $48 adds Shield+, which includes continuous identity verification, passkey authentication, real-time security alerts and additional browser controls.
Shield is designed for real-time browser DLP and monitoring across Chrome activity: web filtering, browsing analytics, download and search tracking, URL filtering, Chromebook geolocation, real-time alerts and automated responses. In education, Shield-style monitoring appears in packages from Lite+ upward, with the exact mix depending on plan. Classroom-monitoring products such as GoGuardian belong to a more education-specific category; GAT Shield combines browser monitoring with the broader GAT audit and administration stack.
What drives total GAT Labs cost beyond the licence
Every active user has to be licensed. A 30-user business on Essential would calculate to $480, but the $800 annual domain minimum applies.
Moving from audit visibility to Flow automation, Shield browser DLP or Shield+ identity controls means moving up the plan stack.
The current annual minimum is $800 for enterprise, government and non-profit domains and $500 for education.
Audit findings still have an operational cost: somebody has to investigate, approve remediation and document the outcome unless the response is automated.
Yearly plans include training and email support. Monthly plans do not, so support requirements can affect the practical cost of monthly billing.
At list price, 500 users on Secure equal $17,000 per year. A 2,000-student school on Lite+ equals $6,000 per year.
GAT Labs alternatives at a glance
GAT Labs is unusually deep in Google Workspace audit and Chrome monitoring, so no alternative replaces every capability equally. The useful comparison is audit depth, automated response, lifecycle automation, Microsoft coverage, AI workflow capability and pricing model.
| Vendor | Built for | Audit & reporting depth | Automated response to findings | Lifecycle automation | AI agents & AI workflows | Microsoft 365 coverage |

The GAT Labs alternatives, one by one
BetterCloud — broader SaaS management beyond Google
BetterCloud overlaps with GAT+ policies and lifecycle automation, but its center of gravity is broader SaaS operations. It suits organisations that need to govern Google Workspace alongside many other SaaS applications, enforce policies across them and run cross-app onboarding or offboarding. That breadth is where it is stronger than a Google-only audit stack.
The trade-off is focus and pricing transparency. BetterCloud does not publish simple list pricing and can be heavier than necessary for a team whose main requirement is deep Google Drive, Gmail or Chrome investigation. See the BetterCloud alternatives comparison.
Promevo gPanel — delegated administration with scoped permissions
Promevo gPanel is a stronger fit when the problem is delegated Google Workspace administration rather than security forensics. It gives helpdesk and IT teams a point-and-click admin layer with permission sets, OU-scoped visibility, reporting and decommissioning workflows. That makes it particularly useful where administrators need narrower privileges than super-admin access.
It has fewer browser-security and DLP capabilities than GAT Labs, and every domain user is licensed. The gPanel pricing and alternatives guide covers its current $15 / $30 per-user annual tiers and 35-user minimum in more detail.
Google Workspace native security — stay inside the Admin console
Organisations already paying for higher Google Workspace editions may be able to cover part of the GAT use case with Google's own security center, DLP, audit logs and investigation tooling. The obvious advantage is architectural simplicity: there is no additional vendor and the controls stay inside Google's native admin environment.
Feature depth and retention vary by Workspace edition, and operational response can still require manual or rule-bound admin work. For teams evaluating native audit data, Zenphi's Google Workspace audit logs guide provides a useful starting point for understanding the events available for automation.
Zenphi — turn findings into governed workflows and AI-assisted action
Zenphi is built for teams that need an event or audit finding to trigger an end-to-end process. It does not replace GAT+'s deep forensic console or Shield's browser DLP. Instead, it replaces the manual work that often follows a finding: notify the right owner, request approval, remediate access, update another system and write the outcome to an audit trail.
A concrete example is external sharing. A file shared outside the domain can trigger a workflow that notifies the owner, asks a manager whether the share should remain, removes access when declined and logs the decision for the security team. See the Google Drive external-sharing audit workflow and the broader Google Workspace security automation guide.
AI can be part of the same process. Claude, OpenAI, Gemini and custom models can be configured as governed AI-agent steps inside custom workflows, with defined inputs, outputs, access rules, approval gates and run history. Zenphi AI Studio adds a conversational interface: users can ask an agent to initiate or act on approved workflows while the workflow remains the governed execution layer.
Zenphi also supports pre-built onboarding and offboarding templates that can be fully customised with additional Google Workspace, Microsoft, HR, finance and approval actions. For deeper comparisons, see offboarding solutions for Google Workspace and data archiving and offboarding tools. Pricing is tier-based by workflow capacity, with an effective single-workflow price as low as $50 per month and no per-user or workflow-run fees.
CloudM — lifecycle automation with backup and leaver archiving
CloudM overlaps with GAT Flow rather than GAT+'s audit depth. It is strongest when lifecycle automation needs to be packaged with backup, leaver archiving or migration. Automate & Protect combines Google Workspace management, backup and pre-built offboarding workflows, while Migrate covers tenant and mailbox migration.
Its audit layer is narrower than GAT's Drive/Gmail forensics and Chrome monitoring. The advantage is having backup and archiving in the same product family as offboarding. See the CloudM pricing and alternatives guide.
Patronum — lower-cost lifecycle management for Google Workspace
Patronum is a lifecycle-management alternative for SMBs that need onboarding, offboarding, email signatures and Google Workspace administration without GAT's audit and Chrome-security depth. Its strongest differentiator is published price: business plans start well below the GAT enterprise stack.
The trade-off is lighter security coverage. Patronum is better compared with GAT Flow than with GAT+ or Shield. It is most compelling where user lifecycle and standard Workspace administration are the main requirements.
GAM — free command-line administration and reporting
GAM is the technical, open-source alternative for administrators comfortable working in a terminal. It can expose a broad set of Google Admin APIs, run bulk operations and generate whatever reporting an administrator is prepared to script. The software itself is free, so its real cost is administrator time, maintenance and operational ownership.
GAM does not provide GAT's ready-made audit console, alerts, browser DLP or approval workflows unless those capabilities are built around it. For a fuller comparison, see the GAM alternatives guide.
Pricing models compared
The pricing models differ almost as much as the products. GAT Labs, gPanel, CloudM and Patronum scale with user count. Google security capability depends on Workspace edition. BetterCloud is quote-based. Zenphi scales by workflow package rather than headcount or execution volume, while GAM is open source.

Which GAT Labs alternative fits your situation?
GAT Labs remains the strongest fit. GAT+ combines domain-wide Drive and Gmail search with long-form audit visibility, while Shield adds real-time browser monitoring and DLP at education-friendly pricing.
BetterCloud is the broader fit because its lifecycle and policy model spans a wider SaaS estate rather than concentrating on Google audit depth.
Google's native security center, DLP and investigation tooling may cover the requirement without another vendor, depending on your edition and the depth of response automation you need.
Zenphi fits when the operational response matters more than forensic depth: detect or receive an event, notify, approve, remediate, update connected systems and log the result. AI-agent steps and AI Studio can be added where interpretation or conversational initiation is useful.
